New Year's snow in the Pacific Northwest, Happy New Year

Cold, cold and cold

The Snow

Whiter than white it floats down,

making just a little sound.

Men and women, light footsteps fall,

walking past a snowy mall.

Looking in windows and wishing for warmth

They leaned into the wind, which was blowing

from the North.

The cold is soaking through, chilling

to the bone. A decision must be

made to go home.

While the fluffy white snow was nice

They knew they’d have to go

out in it more than twice.

So, arriving home, they

shoveled walks and built a snowman.

 And right afterwards, they knew,

Snow tires would have to be put on.

What can I say about last year? Except it was last year!

I can say this, last year at midnight, fireworks were going off, lots of noise, people were really celebrating. This year, I heard nothing. Do they tell us something!.. Ric
