I was always intriged over the bird flying free, i imaged myself in the air drifting along, I even had dreams of just that.

The birds were studied in great detail by the early innovators of flight. Great innovators of flight include Leonardo da Vinci, who conceptualized flying machines in the 15th century.

Sir George Cayley, known as the “father of aviation,” built the first successful glider in the late 1800s.

Alberto Santos-Dumont, a Brazilian aviation pioneer who made significant contributions to heavier-than-air -air flight in the early 1900s.

Otto Lilienthal Known as the "glider king" his gliders provided valuable insight into aerodymanics and control.

Octave Chanute a key figure in aviation. Chanute shared knowledge and conducted experiments, influencing the Wrights design.

These great men were intrigued by the bird and how it could fly, and let this obsession grow to fruition when they, perhaps, were inspired to replicate a bird-like airplane or glider.

These great men were driven by sheer curiosity and genius. They didn’t give up, like Thomas Edison. Edison is said to have failed hundreds of experiments before he invented the light bulb.

Many of the early innovators studying flight lost their lives, but they brought society closer to taking the huge step of inventing an actual flying airplane.

Orville and Wilbur Wright brought the work of these great men to fruition.
